Bargman 84 and 85 Series Trailer Tailight Wiring Colors Explained
Question:
Im replacing the Bargman lights 30-84-527 on my cargo trailer. On the trailer side at the back I have brown, green and yellow coming out, no white. On the Bargman fixture I have green, black and white. The white on the fixture is connected to the back, which color wire coming out of my trailer do I connect the white ground to? Am I missing a wire coming off the trailer? I know to connect both sides of the fixture black-to-black-to-brown coming off the trailer, and all the greens together. I am grounded on the front of the trailer frame, coming out of the 4 pin plug. Thanks for the help!

Expert Reply:
Typical trailer wiring colors are white for ground, brown for taillight, green for right turn/stop and yellow for left turn/stop. With that said not all trailers and lights are wired to this standard.
The light you have that is similar to the part # 47-84-009 has white for ground, green for taillights and black for stop/turn.
The white wire of the assembly on your trailer would get grounded to a clean metal surface that touches the trailer frame.
