2016 Dodge 2500 Short Bed 5th Wheel Recommendation
Question:
I just bought a 2016 Dodge with the towing pucks in the bed. Before I bought this truck I used a BandW Companion 5th wheel hitch for my 3 axle toy hauler 5th wheel. Now that I have this Dodge with the built in puck system I have 3 options, this is what I need help with. 1- Buy your part # RVB3600 for to convert my Companion Hitch to the Dodge puck system OR 2- Buy your part # CABC5G for and get rid of my Companion Hitch and go to the Goose neck set up OR 3- Buy a Gooseneck set up from you that sits back farther since I do drive a short bed. Any help you can give me with these questions would be greatly appreciated. If you like option 3 please give me some ideas as to which part # you would recommend. Regards,

The best option you gave is the first one. Using the # BWRVB3600 to install your Companion hitch would be the best route. This will essentially give you a # BWRVK3600. Since you have a short bed truck you are going to need to install a Sidewinder pin box on your trailer as well.
You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.
There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.
Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
Using the adapter you referenced as option 2 wouldn't give you enough clearance to make tight turns, and option 3 wouldn't work out at all since you don't want the gooseneck ball to be behind the center of the rear axle.
