Tekonsha Brake Controller Install Harness Recommendation for a 2016 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
Hello, I have a 2016 Tacoma and was wondering what wiring harness I need to plugin to the truck by the driver side kick panel? Im thinking I need the 3017-P to match the 2015 Tundra? I have the Primus IQ brake controller. When using it, I just press the regular brake pedal of the truck right? I dont have to use the manual lever? What is the point of the manual lever besides during setting up calibration?

To install a brake controller like the Primus part # TK90160 in your 2016 Toyota Tacoma with a factory 7-way will actually require the install harness part # 3040-P which has been confirmed as a fit.
When you have this controller set up properly you would only have to brake the truck like normal. The manual override lever is there to help set the controller up and/or if you needed to apply the trailer brakes slightly to help stop minor trailer sway.
I attached a help article on brake controllers for you to check out as well.
