Recommended EOH Actuator for Use with Kodiak E-Coat Disc Brake Kit K2HR35E-8
Question:
Hello, I am trying to find an actuator compatible with etrailer part K2HR35E-8. This is the Kodiak disc brake kit for 10 inch wheels on 3500# axle. The disc brake info says that the actuator needs to have at least 1500 psi. Part # T4813102 says that it is for disc brakes, but it does not have a psi listed unless I missed it altogether. Also would would you recommend a brake controller to go with this actuator? I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra double cab, rear wheel drive it that matters. I am leaning toward this actuator due to the appearance of the simplicity of wiring it up.

Disc brake actuators are available in either a 1500-psi or a 1600-psi pressure rating. Either rating will work with the KodiakDisc Brake Kit that you referenced. In cases where the trailer was a tandem axle set-up, or if it was a very long trailer, it would not be a bad idea to choose a 1600-psi actuator over a 1500, but again, either will work just fine. The main thing is to make sure the actuator is rated for disc brakes and not drum brakes, which need only 1000-psi to operate.
The brake controller I recommend is the Prodigy P3 # 90195. This advanced unit includes a host of performance and convenience features that make it really easy to set-up and use. Our customers rated this controller very highly for it's simple operation and rock-solid reliability. The prodigy allows for use with either electric drum brakes or electric-over-hydraulic actuators like the Titan BrakeRite # T4813102 and the Hydrastar # HBA16.
