Rhino-Rack and Thule Roof Rack Recommendations for a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

does the rino rack fit into the flush roof rails of the 2011 grand cherokee on its own or dies it rely on the the door frame like the thule does ?

Rhino-Rack roof racks for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee such as # RRRVP27 have brackets to fit the side rail channels and do not clamp to the door jamb on the vehicle. Thule does also have roof racks for your Jeep that use just the side rails.

For example, AeroBlade Edge roof rack # TH7602-TH7602 with fit kit # THKIT3142 uses just the channel. If you like the through-bar style then you would use # TH711400 for the bars, # TH460R for the feet, and fit kit # THKIT3142.

All of the racks above fit on Jeep vehicles equipped with the E Group package. If E Group package is present, you should see a metal strip on top of the flush mount side rails.

The Thule and other brand roof racks you see that use the clamp style attachment are used on models WITHOUT the E Group package. There should be no metal strip on top of the flush mount side rails, only black plastic. If you have this type of side rail then the above roof racks would not work.
