Question:
I have a 7 pole OEM trailer w/bakes female pug on the back bumper of my 2009 Chevrolet Silverado. 1. Do you sell a 4 pole plug adapter that can be plugged into the 7 pole female? 2, Or, a combination dual 4 x 7 pole male adapter that can be plugged into my OEM female 7 pole? 3, Or, a total replacement combination dual 4 x 7 pole unit that will replace the OEM 7 pole female plug unit that came with my truck? We have several different options that would allow you to plug in a trailer that uses a 4 pole trailer connector. If you wanted to leave your current 7-way trailer connector in place, you could simply use a plug in adapter like part # PK12716. We don't offer a plug in adapter that would provide both a 7-way and a 4-pole and retain your existing 7-way, but if you'd be willing to remove your current 7-way, part # HM40975 would provide both a 4-pole and a 7-way and would not require an adapter.
If you access the rear of the 7-way, you'll see that the vehicles tow package harness actually plugs into the rear of the factory 7-way. Simply squeeze the locking tab as shown in the video, and unplug the harness from the rear of the 7-way. You can then plug the harness in the rear of the # HM40975 trailer connector. This connector is the same one that's being used on current Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra and Dodge Ram trucks as the OEM trailer connector.
