Ball Mount, Hitch Ball, and Locking Hitch Pin Recommendation for 2015 Ford F-150
Question:
Hi, I am looking for the following trailing equipments to purchase: 2 inch hitch rated for 10000 lbs 2inch ball rated for 10000 lbs Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock I have a 2015 F150 FX4, 4 wheel drive, xlt sport finition, with max tow package, ecoboost V6, and 20 inch wheel. The goal is to trail a 7,500 lbs boat on a trailer. 7,500 is the average weight for both the boat and the trailer. The height of the trailer distance from top of the hitch/ball to ground is about 21.5. I measure my hitch receiver height on the truck and the top of the hitch is about at 21.5inch from the ground. I do not plan to leave the hitch and the ball on the truck, I plan to remove it when not in use. Thanks to let me know what do you advice I purchase.

For a ball mount, or drawbar, rated at 10,000 pounds that fits in a 2 inch hitch receiver, I recommend the Brophy Ball Mount 3/4 Inch Rise or 2 Inch Drop, 13-1/4 Inches Long # BM20. This ball mount has a 2 inch drop or 3/4 inch rise. When used with a standard hitch ball, the small drop will help you tow your boat trailer level. This ball mount uses a hitch ball with a 1 inch diameter shank.
A great hitch ball option that will work with the Brohpy Ball Mount # BM20 is the Curt Hitch Ball with 2 Inch Diameter # 40038. This hitch ball is rated higher than the ball mount and will work well with the 2 inch coupler on your boat trailer.
I recommend using the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, Stainless Steel Flush Design for 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98882. This hitch pin is designed for use with Class III and Class IV trailer hitches and the stainless steel pin and lock housing maximize rust resistance.
Another component that will help keep your vehicle level while towing your boat is suspension enhancement. A great option for your 2015 F-150 is the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFR1504E. These jounce-style springs will help stabilize and level your vehicle, as well as absorb road shock and improve roll stability.
