How to Wire a Tekonsha P-3 Trailer Brake Controller to a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado
Question:
Have a 2008 Chevy Silverado. Is there a plug in adapter custom fit wiring adapter for this vehicle also?

Expert Reply:
Half-way through the 2007 model year, GM quit using the plug-in brake controller port. They went back to a wire bundle.
You will find a wire bundle taped up underneath your dash. It will have 4 or 5 wires, red, dark blue, light blue, white and sometimes brown. You will have to splice or butt-connect the wires underneath your dash to the wire leads on the P-3. The wires need to match up as follows:
Truck Controller
Red Black
Light Blue Red
Black White
Dark Blue Blue
Brown N/A
You will also need to connect two loose wires tucked away in the engine bay. I have added a link to a help article that covers the whole process that includes pictures, specifically of where to find and connect the wires under the hood.
