How to Pick Out a Ball Mount for a 2014 Subaru Forester to Tow Trailer Level
Question:
Im looking for a suitable ball mount for the OEM hitch receiver. Im just looking to tow a closed utility trailer. What is is the best way to find out how much rise I need? I was thinking a level, and measuring the trailer and hitch from the level position. Any recommendations for mounts? I know Im looking for a 2inch ball as well.

When picking out a ball mount for a vehicle like your 2014 Subaru Forester you want to go with the ball mount that will allow the trailer to be towed as level as possible.
To do this you will need to measure from the top of the hitch opening to the ground and then with the trailer as level as possible measure from the bottom of the coupler to the ground. The difference between these two measurements is the amount of rise/drop you will need.
I attached a help article that covers how to do this as well.
