Recommendation for a Weight Distribution System on a Forest River Cruise Lite Trailer

Question:

Am buying a new trailer and since its considerably larger than my previous trailer cannot use my 600 lb eaz-lift weight distribution system which is for a lighter gross wt trailer. Tow vehicle is 2006 Toyota Tundra V-8 with a max tow of 7000 lb. New trailer is a Forest River Cruise Lite T231RKXL GVWR: 7470, Hitch Wt: 433, UVW: 4473, CCC: 2997. Was considering your item #PS49903, with tongue weight 750-1000 lbs but dont know if that would be a little stiff? Of course also want a hitch I can back up with and with sway control since this trailer is a lot larger than my Trailmanor which can be towed with about anything larger than a bicycle!

For your new heavier trailer, I would recommend the Strait-Line Weight Distribution # RP66083.

The Reese Stait-Line system # RP66083 prevents sway before it starts. It uses a dual cam sway control which is the most effective on the market, because it applies constant pressure to realign your trailer behind your tow vehicle. It is lighter than many of the other systems and has a more effective sway control than other systems like the Pro Series or Eaz-Lift. They use a friction sway control system that inhibits sway with the use of friction from the bars that will activate only when the bar rubs the interior of the bracket when the unit moves.

With the Reese Strait-Line System you will be able to back-up and it includes a shank is for systems with a tongue weight of 400lbs-800lb. Be sure you check the loaded tongue weight of your trailer including any weight in the truck bed behind the rear axle. This system should cover the towing capacity of your truck but you will want to make sure the trailer doesn't exceed the capacity of your truck or weight distribution system.

It is important to note that our Stait-Line systems do not come with a hitch ball. Two of our most common sizes for this application are a 2 inch ball # A-90 and a 2-5/16 inches ball # 19286.
