Tire/Wheel Combination Recommendation For Utility Trailer

Question:

I am looking at getting a spare tire and wheel for my utility trailer and it does have a zerk in the spindle. If I order part# TTWTRTM2057515C and AM20545. Would the tire be installed on the wheel? I will also need new hubs as well. Can you suggest a hub?

When the # TTWTRTM2057515C tire and # AM20545 wheel are ordered, the tire is not mounted on the wheel. You can have a local garage or tire shop mount it for you.

If you are looking for a tire/wheel combo that would be very similar to the wheel and tire you mentioned I recommend the Kenda Karrier combo, part # AM32238B. This is a Load Range C radial tire on a 15 inch Black mod wheel and it has a 5 on 4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern.

To find the right hub for your trailer you will need to know the axle size you have and what the rated capacity is for the axle. The axle may have a sticker or plate that has the weight capacity for the axle listed. The best way to find the correct hub is to remove one of the hubs you have and check out the bearing numbers you have on the trailer. If you cannot find the numbers on the bearings or seal, you can use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 and measure the spindle and inner diameter of the hub.

I have attached a photo that shows where you can typically find the numbers on bearings and seals and also shows where you need to measure on your spindle to make sure you get the correct items. Once you get those numbers or measurements let me know and I will be happy to make some recommendations for you.

You did not say if your trailer has brakes. If it does, let me know what kind of brakes and we will be able to determine what hub will work for you.
