Spare Tire Carrier Options for Trailstar Boat Trailer

Question:

I purchased a 2015 Tracker Panfish 16 boat. It has a 2015 Black /White Trailstar trailer. I am having a difficult time in finding a tire carrier that will provide proper clearance between the tire and boat. The top side of the tire is resting against the boat which is too close. I have tried the CE Smith and Fulton off set carriers. The ground clearance is good on both but the tire rubs the boat once installed onto the carrier. Do you have in suggestions?

One carrier I recommend you check out is the Dutton-Lainson Extra Offset Trailer Spare Tire Carrier # DL22145. This carrier is designed to fit trailer tongues up to 3 inches x 5 inches and wheel sizes 13 inches - 15 inches that have 5 on 4-1/2 or 6 on 5-1/2 wheel bolt patterns. I have attached a review video of this carrier on a boat trailer for you.

Another option is to use a more traditional spare tire carrier like the CE Smith Spare Tire Carrier for Trailers # CE22007Z-11050-2. With this style carrier, you could mount the tire in whatever space works for you. It does provide less ground clearance, but may bring the tire down enough to avoid your boat. If you do not want to mount the spare on the side of the trailer, some people like to use a holder like # CE22007Z-11050-2 to mount the tire under the boat trailer, similar to the way a pickup truck spare is mounted.
