Fifth Wheel Hitch and Installation Kit for 1976 Ford F250 Long Bed

Question:

I own a 1976 F250 Super Cab / Camper Special LB with a 4 speed transmission, 8100 # GVW and was wondering what kind of recommendation you might have for mounting a fifth wheel hitch on this truck. And perhaps even one to sell so I might be able to use my current fifth wheel. an older 1987 Collins 24 foot.

Let's start with the hitch itself. If you have a long bed truck, the Reese, part # RP30928, would be an excellent choice, with its 20K capacity. For a short bed truck, you'll want to also use a rotating pin box to prevent the nose of your trailer from coming into contact with the cab of your truck.

To install either hitch, you'd use the Reese # RP30035 Universal Fifth Wheel Hitch Install Kit. If you click the provided link, you can see the installation instructions.

To install a 7-way connector in the truck bed, use part # 20023.
