The # BLU37TR Blue Ox Patriot Braking System IS more expensive, but is very easy to set up, remove and install. A # RM-9332 12-volt outlet would need to be installed on the vehicle. This system does have a higher up-front cost, but when you consider all the shop labor it'll take to install a permanently mounted system, the Patriot is often the better deal.

If you used a Blue Ox tow bar, like the Alpha # BX7380, you'll want to use a Blue Ox base plate. I'd recommend the # BX2246 base plate. For a lighting solution the Blue Ox bulb and socket kit, part # BX8869 would work well. This kit uses a separate taillight bulb that's installed in the taillight housing. This installation allows the lamps used when towing to remain completely independent of the vehicle wiring and would require no cutting or splicing into the existing vehicle wiring.

According to my research, your 2009 CR-V is capable of being flat towed, but you'll want to follow the recreational towing instructions mentioned in the owner's manual to the letter to avoid damaging the vehicle.
