Troubleshooting Left Turn Signal Bulb Out Message after Trailer Wiring Install

Question:

Hello, I have installed one of these on my 2015 Durango and am now receiving a left turn signal out fault. The signals still flash just the fault, also the signal in the car flashes fast. Any ideas? thanks

Do all of the turn signal still work properly? If not, then most likely the problem is a bad bulb and is unrelated to the trailer wiring. You can try making sure all of the connectors of the trailer wiring harness are making good connection as well.

You can test the trailer wiring with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 like in the video I attached to see if the wiring harness seems to be working properly. If not, then most likely the harness is damaged and needs to be replaced. Or, you can un-install the trailer wiring to see if the problem goes away.

Before you replace it you will want to inspect the wiring of your trailer to see if you can find anything that would cause the box to short out like corrosion or cut/exposed wiring. These boxes don't usually go out unless there is a short on the trailer that takes it out.
