I have good news for your brake controller adapter needs.
If you already have the Hopkins # HM47284 brake controller, you will need the universal wiring adapter # HM47685. Also if your vehicle already has the factory 7-way you will most likely have a factory bundle of wires under your dash by your left shin that we can splice into for this brake controller.
According to my information the red/black GM wire goes to brake controller black. The white wires go together. The light blue with white goes to brake controller red wire. And the dark blue on the truck goes to the brake controller blue. If there is an orange wire, do not use it. You might also have to make a few adjustments to the battery, I linked our Help article custom for your 2011 GMC Sierra for you to better understand all this information.
If you haven't already purchased a brake controller I have linked the page with all the brake controllers for your specific setup. I really like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 because it is a proportional brake controller, which means it senses how the tow vehicle is slowing or stopping and applies the trailer's brakes with the same intensity. It also has a full display screen instead of codes that need deciphering. I linked a video of this controller being installed on your same vehicle, a lot of the steps will be the same, the controller will be the difference.
