Do the Convert A Ball Fifth Wheel Adapters Require Bolting to the Pin Box of the Trailer

Question:

When attaching the offset adapter to my King Pin area....is it necessary to bolt the adapter to the steel flat surface surrounding the king pin area? I see there are 4 holes in the offset adapter. What if I do not have enough room around my king pin to drill into? I have a 2010 Laredo 5th wheel. I want to get rid of the standard 5th wheel hitch and convert to a gooseneck arrangement.

You will need to bolt the offset 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter # CAB-C5GX1216 to the trailer pin box. The offset necessitates bolting on the adapter to handle the extra stress.

Using the offset version does not provide any addition clearance when making tight turns because it does not move the pivot point back. So if bolting it on is not an option for you, using the regular version, # CAB-C5G, would be the way to go since you will not have to bolt it on. I have included a couple of videos on this adapter for you.
