Does the Power Wire of the Brake Controller Install Kit ETBC7 Have to Run to Vehicle Battery

Question:

Is it possible to wire this kit without attaching to the battery? I dont want to have the controller receiving power while the vehicle is off. I was going to use this kit with a Tekonsha prodigy P2 controller.

You actually do want the brake controller to have power all the time otherwise the settings of the controller will be lost when you turn the vehicle off and will require you to reset the P2 # 90885.

The good news is that this controller goes into sleep mode after several minutes of no activity so it would not drain your battery.

So basically you would need to run the power wire of the # ETBC7 to the vehicle battery to install it and the brake controller.
