How to Pick Out Disc Brakes for a Trailer that has Drum Brakes

Question:

Since I need brake work on my EZ Loader boat trailer, I want to swap all 4 drum brakes for disc brakes. The 2001 trailer model is 1-TEZB 23-25/27 7500 H2X. The bearings and seals were replaced last week, so Ill be reusing them. While doing that, I saw that all 4 drums had rust where the brake pads should have polished them. Thats when I decided disc brakes made more sense: Discs are easy to spray the salt off, where thats impossible with drums. Discs also have superior stopping power. Please quote me what all I need.

I can pick you out the correct disc brake setup if you can get back to me with the bearing numbers that you replaced recently. We have to first determine what spindle you have so that we can pick out the correct hub/rotors that will fit.

You are absolutely correct about disc brakes, they are much easier to wash salt water off of and have much more stopping power.

I attached a help article that details how to pick out everything needed to add disc brakes to at trailer. If you are looking for superior corrosion resistance you will want to go with stainless steel components as that is the best for corrosion resistance.

The part # K2HR35DS that you referenced would be a great option as long as the bearings you took out of the hubs were L68149 and L44649.
