Warranty Implications of Installing Tow Ready # 118480 Trailer Wiring Harness on 2014 Nissan Rogue

Question:

Hi. I just bought the new 2014 nissan rogue sl. I really wanna use utility trailer. I just wanna ask: if I connect the trailer wiring 118480 to my car, does it affect or ruin or damage anything? And does it affect my car warranty policy? Do I need a wiring for small utility 4x6? Because I heard that I only need wiring for bigger size such as 5x8 or 6x10...? Thanks

The Tow Ready # 118480 is specifically designed to fit your Rogue. If it's installed according to the instructions, it will not damage anything. The trailer wiring harness is circuit protected, and will draw the power needed for the trailer lamps directly from the vehicle battery, instead of pulling it through the vehicle's taillight circuits.

As far as warranty implications go, purchasers of aftermarket vehicle parts and accessories are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. In a nutshell, the Act states that a vehicle manufacturer cannot deny warranty coverage unless the aftermarket part actually caused the problem in question.

All trailers are required to have stop lights, tail lights, turn signals, and reflectors. As the trailer increases in size, the more elaborate the lighting requirements. I'll link you to an FAQ article that explains the lighting requirements. I'll also link you to an install video for the Tow Ready # 118480.
