Are Hazard Flasher Immunity And Prolonged Stop Features Available With Brake Controller
Question:
I am looking at a proportional break controller for a 2011 Toyota 4Runner pulling a single axle travel trailer. I have been looking t the Tekonsha Primas IQ and the Hays G2 because of the mounting brackets. Is there a unit that combines Hazard Flasher Immunity and Prolonged Stop features? Any help would be appreciated.

With a brake controller like the Primus IQ, part # TK90160 on your 2011 4Runner, the hazard flasher immunity is no issue since the 4Runner has separate stop and turn signals. I called my contact at Tekonsha and they said there were problems several years ago when flashers were used but it would not be problem with the newer brake controllers.
When sitting with your foot on the brake for prolonged periods, the amount of braking current applied will decrease, but as soon as you touch the brakes again, the level that was set is restored to the level you set it at.
