Can a Fifth Wheel Hitch be Installed in a Flat Bed 1964 Chevy Truck

Question:

is it possible to install a 5th wheel hitch in a 1964 chevy c10 with a wooden bed, my trailer is a small 18 foot Yukon, with the accessory hitch mount for short bed trucks, I have been towing it with my 2002 Silverado 1500 with the 6 foot bed, and tows well, but I want to purchase a 1964 equipped with the v6 305 is it practical? thanks

Fifth wheel rail kits need to attach directly to the frame of the truck. So what you are looking to do is technically possible, but would require some serious modification.

For a flat bed fifth wheel hitch the Demco Hijacker SL part # DM6076SL-FLAT would be a great options since it is designed for flat bed configurations.

For rails you will need the # DM6012. The install of these rails will have to be a custom install done by a qualified fabricator in your area. The rails will need to mount to the frame of your truck and not just to the bed.
