Fifth Wheel Towing Setup Recommendation for a 2004 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 foot bed

Question:

i have a 2004 f150 supercrew 5.5 ft bed 4x4 and a 2008 Sun Valley Extreme 233 fifth wheel travel trailer. Need a hitch setup. Trailer only weighs 4500 lbs so a 10k hitch will be fine. Can you suggest a product for me.

Since you have a 5 foot bed the only way you will be able to tow a fifth wheel trailer will be first to replace the pin box of the trailer with a Sidewinder.

You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.

For a hitch the Reese 16k part # RP30047 would be a great option. Then for a rail kit you would want to go with a custom fit kit like the part # RP50081-58 as it will minimize drilling and install time. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.
