Tow Bar Lighting Recommendation for 2010 Mazda 3 on Tow Dolly
Question:
Hi, I am looking into towing my Mazda 3 2010 hatchback behind my motorhome on a tow dolly. Instead of having the usual magnetic light, I was thinking about wiring the cars lights to the connector behind my motorhome, probably using a Y so both the dolly and the car would be able to connect to the motorhome connection. Would the product 118420inch work for this or is it just for when the car is towing something else? If it would work, how long is the cable provided. In the video, it didnt seem long enough to go all the way to the front of the vehicle. Maybe there is another cable or part that would do this? Thank you,

What you are looking for would be considered tow bar lighting. The part # 118420 would be for if your 2010 Mazda 3 was towing a trailer and would not work in reverse to power the lights of the vehicle.
Instead you would want the diode kit part # RM-154. This will wire into the taillight wiring of your vehicle and will operate the turn signals by your RV.
You will also want the # BX88206 to connect this lighting solution to your tow vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.
The easiest way to get a second 7-way at the rear of your vehicle will be to use the fifth wheel wiring harness part # 50-97-410. This will plug in line with your current 7-way which will provide you with a second 7-way for the lighting. The wire will be a bit long though as it is 9 feet, but you could pretty easily wrap it up and out of the way.
