Will Reese Weight Distribution Shank and Head 54994 Fit In Place of the Original 54980
Question:
My son in law lost my 3yr. old adjustable trunnion shank and hitch head. He purchased a new one, my old one was a 15,000 /1,500lbs. set up. The new one he got is a P#54994 -16,000/1,600 lbs. When looking at it and all the hype about the new style head, it seems like my 1200lbs. square trunnion bar pivits or ears are small for the bottom holes in the head. Are all the locating holes on the ajustable heads the same or is it just me? I dont have the original to compare it to. The original set up was a Reese Hi Performance trunnion set up with the Cams. A great towing system for my 30 ft. trailer tows like a dream. Thanks

Most weight distribution heads have mounting holes spaced 3-3/4 inches apart on center. The shanks have holes spaced 1-1/4 inches apart on center. The head part as far as where the trunnions fit is the same as # RP54980.
The exact replacement shank and head for a Reese trunnion system with dual-cam sway control that you have is going to be # RP54980.
