Base Plate Kit Recommendation for a 2004 Mini Cooper S for Flat Towing
Question:
Before I bite the bullet and buy the brackets, I wanted to make sure I was getting the correct one. I have a 04 cooper s and falcon rv tow bar. I plan on using magnetic lights. Someone mentioned I may need an adapter, but I believe as long as I stay with the roadmaster brand I wont need one. Is 521876-1 the correct brackets for my mini and are there adapters I will need to connect to a falcon tow bar? Thank you.

The Roadmaster base plate kit # 521876-1 that you referenced has been confirmed to fit all models of the 2004 Mini Cooper so it will work well on your S model.
It will also fit your Falcon Tow Bar part # RM-520 without the use of an additional adapter.
The Optronics Magnetic Tow Lights # TL21RK would be a great option. You will also want the # 787196 to connect this wiring from your tow vehicle to the front of the towed vehicle.
For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry.
I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.
