5th Wheel to Goose Neck Adapters with Offset for 5th Wheel Trailer Towed by F-450 Flat Bed Dually
Question:
I have an F-450 flatbed dually with a recessed goose neck 2 and 5/16ths ball and a CAB-C5G on my 5th wheel. The ball is approximately 4 inches from the base of the ball to the top of the flat bed. I am trying to build a lean-too on the back of the truck and when I am almost out of the driveway the 5th wheel touches the sidewall of my lean-too. I noticed this possible problem and removed the front wall and hooked up to the camper to see if I was right. Sure enough I was right the camper hits the side wall. I would like to know if I would be able to use an 8 inch extension Instead of the CAB-C5G? The CAB-C5G does offer clearance on the back end but not enough to make a 90 degree turn. However, as a truck driver I know that 90 degrees turns can get the driver into trouble. I would like to know if I would be able to use an 8 inch offset to help with the closeness all around.

If you are currently using the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G on your 5th wheel pulled by a gooseneck hitch, then you can certainly swap it for their offset adapter # CAB-C5GX1216. This adapter, shown in the linked review video, provides 7-1/2-inches of offset. We also offer an 8-inch-offset adapter from Ranch Hitch, their # AM3139.
It would be helpful if you could submit photos and dimensions of your flat bed and lean-to. We might be able to recommend better alternatives if we can see the set-up.
