Installation Process for SportRack Roof Rack SR1002 on 2010 Ford Focus 4-Door

Question:

Hello, I had purchased a SR1002 for my 2010 Ford Focus. I noticed that on the installation video for this Roof Rack the feet go onto the door jamb and on my 2010 ford focus I have weatherstripping that prevents the feet from sitting flat onto the car so I can be able to close the door properly. Is there a way around this issue? Would I tighten the bar with the ffeet over the weatherstripping? I notice on the video with the Honda the weather stripping is on the car door not the door opening itself so it makes sense how to install it on that car just not mine. Please help, I am so eager to put it on.

I confirmed with SportRack that their square bar roof rack system # SR1002 is indeed a correct fit for your 2010 Ford Focus 4-door. I reviewed an installation video for a similar Yakima roof rack on a 2011 Focus 4-door and this video is linked for you. If you refer to the 52-second mark in the video you'll see how the clamp for that Yakima rack is positioned on the roof line, above the weather stripping. I also linked a close-up photo image from the video. Your SR1002 clamps will install similarly on your 2010 Focus.

Since this rack can fit many different cars it will install slightly differently on some models and model years. If you can easily pull the weather stripping away from the car to fit the rack leg clamp in place then this is fine to do. Some cars' stripping will pull away enough to let you get that leg clamp directly on the car's metal surface. You do not have to remove the stripping, just pull it away to position the leg clamp.
