Recommended Frame-Mount Skid Wheels for 2015 Airstream Sport 22 Travel Trailer

Question:

My Airstream 2015 22foot Sport bottoms out due to steep incline on driveway and Im looking for skid wheels that can be welded on rear of travel trailer. what is the best option... I see a few on your website. I also see some complaints about bolts so I would prefer to get higher quality bolt upfront. Please advise.

According to images and specs on the Airstream website their 22-foot Sport Series travel trailer does not have a rear hitch to allow attachment of hitch-mount skid wheels like the Ultra-Fab Hitch Mounted Steel Rollers # UF48-979017 so instead you'll want to select a frame-mount skid wheel that can be bolted or welded on the trailer frame.

The linked page will show you all frame-mount skid wheels and you can select bolt-on or weld-on installation using the filters on the page. This will narrow the results shown to those you prefer.

I suggest the Ultra-Fab Skid Wheels # UF48-979011 which have 4-inch caster wheels. These require you to first weld on a plate to the underside of your frame and then bolt on these wheel assemblies using included hardware. If you prefer a direct-weld-on set instead use the Ultra-Fab Steel Jumbo Rollers # UF48-979023.

Since skid wheels are available in various diameters you can select the ones that give your trailer frame protection from scrapes on your driveway without causing undue ground clearance issues.
