Recommended Brake Controller for 2013 Ram 1500
Question:
I have a 2013 Ram 1500 quad cab with a 5.7L Hemi. I need a brake controller for a trailer taht is 4660 dry. I see from your website that you have 8 different controllers that would work for me, with varying prices, but what are the differences between the different models? I have years of towing experience, but none with a brake controller or a trailer this size, thus I cannot decipher the differences and I do not know which is best for me.

All of the brake controllers recommended for your 2013 Ram 1500 are proportional brake controllers. This means that they will apply the trailer's brakes in proportion to the vehicle's brakes.
Additionally, all of these controllers will install in your 1500 with a brake controller port adapter, making installation simple. The adapter will plug into the brake controller port under the dash and into the back of the brake controller. No need to splice or cut any wires.
I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 with the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter # 3023-P. The Prodigy P2 is designed to work with trailers that have up to 4 axles. The brake controller features a LED screen that is easy to read. This controller performs continuous diagnostic checks to alert you to any potential problems. Any problems the connector finds will display as a troubleshooting code on the screen.
We have found the Tekonsha brake controllers to be high quality brake controllers. The screen and diagnostics on the Prodigy P2 help it to be very user friendly. Another great feature of this brake controller is that it can be mounted anywhere within a 360-degree vertical range.
I have attached a review video of this brake controller for you.
