Question:

I just got a Gulf Stream cavalier CVDH 33foot with no slide outs. Its a FEMA type trailer. I cannot find specs to decide which equalizer hitch is right for me.

The only thing I could find on a Gulf Stream Cavalier CVDH is dry it weighs 4,660 pounds and has a gross weight capacity of 6,200 pounds. If we go by the gross weight capacity of 6,200 pounds then the tongue weight of the trailer by itself would be 620 to 930 pounds.

To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

However because your trailer is over 26 feet long a single friction sway control bar will not be very effective so adding a second, # 83660, is recommended.

I have included some links that explain various ways you can determine the tongue weight of the trailer.

If the tongue weight does end up being 800 to 1,000 pounds then Curt system # C17062 would be a good option. If the tongue weight is between 550 and 750 pounds then Pro Series system # PS49582 is a good option. I have linked video reviews of both systems for you.
