Trailer Brake Lights Not Working When Connected to a 2000 Chrysler Sebring Convertible
Question:
Just received the C56175 for my 2000 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. Noted when I received it that it stated the converter is to be used for a negative grounded system only. However, the search recommended this converter for my vehicle. Everything works except the Brake lights and I am sure that it is wired correctly. Any suggestions on getting this to work properly?

Your 2000 Chrysler Sebring does have a negative ground electrical system. Positive ground vehicles haven't been made in many years. It is possible that the ground connection is not in a sufficient location for the power draw. It should be attached to a clean bare metal surface; no paint, coating, or corrosion. You may need to sand down the area for the ground. Also, it would work best if grounded by itself.
As for the rest of the harness verify the following connections:
Yellow connects to the left turn signal wire
Green connects to right turn signal wire
Brown connects to running light wire
Red connects to brake light wire
Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to ensure you are connected to the right wires. Once installed use the circuit tester to test the functions of the 4-Way by having someone sit in the vehicle and go through the light functions. If everything works on the vehicle side, then the brake light issue must be on the trailer.
Make sure all of the grounds on the trailer (all the lights and main connector ground) are attached to clean metal surfaces. And make sure that the trailer side connector is clean and free of corrosion.
