How to Install a Brake Controller in a 2015 Ford F-150 with Factory 4-Way

Question:

I recently purchased a 2015 without a towing package. It does have the tow mode on the column as well as a 4 pin receptacle on the rear. I installed a receiver but now need to install a brake controller, which I have a Tekonsha which I pulled off my trade in. My Question is this: * There is a receptacle attached to the brake pedal bracket that is currently not used, is this for hooking in a brake controller? If it is, is there a simple harness I can purchase to make the hook up less complicated? Thanks,

You gave me all of the information I need to answer your question. For that I thank you!

To install a Tekonsha brake controller in your 2015 Ford F-150 that has a 4-way all you need is the part # 22292 for attaching the controller to the port you mentioned by your emergency pedal and then the # 37185 to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.

Follow the 4-way trailer connector wires from the trailer connector to the front of the vehicle. These wires connect to a factory plug along the frame rail, usually on the driver's side, between the back tires and the rear bumper (see pic).

There are more wires coming from the front of the vehicle than there are coming out toward the 4-Way plug .Ford wires the front of the vehicle as if it will be manufactured with a 7-Way plug, so all the 7-Way wires are run to this connector on the frame rail. The blue wire will get run to the blue wire of the # 37185.
