Replacement Shank and Hitch Lock for Swagman Trailhead
Question:
while mounting to hitch, Could i have damaged the threading on the 1-1/4 S63360 hitch- using the provided bolt if first few threads of bolt were damaged by trying to put them through the un-threaded holes OOOPS? i inadvertently mangled the first few rows of threading. thus, they would not properly thread into hitch-threads either direction. my questions: 1. could i have damaged the threading on hitch by using this damaged bolt? 2. is P355 replacement shank the proper one? 3. will P355 accept accept S64031 lock kit ? 4. what do you suggest here? ie how can i tell if threads are damaged. thanks!

Expert Reply:
The correct shank for the Trailhead part # S63360 that you referenced is the part # P355 that you also referenced. The part # S64031 will fit the new shank and if you are considering it now would be a great time since your current hitch bolt is damaged.
You could try finding a tap and die kit to try and clean up the threads. But most likely you will need to go with the replacements.
