Can 30x50 Flint Hill Good Cargo Carrier for 2 Inch Hitches Be Used In 2-1/2 In Receiver with Reducer

Question:

My question is that I have a scooter hauler, 2015 GMC 2500HD with a 2.5inch receiver. With a reducer, which I use for towing my lighter trailers, do you foresee any problems with my 2½inch receiver? Actually I was looking at the Pro Systems steel one also. Could you give me expert opinion on this situation, Thanks

There is no issue with using a 2-1/2 inch receiver with a reducer to carry a hitch cargo carrier. You will likely need a longer hitch pin for the 2-1/2 inch receiver. The hitch pin that is included with the rack is for 2 inch hitch receivers.

I recommend the 30 x 50 Flint Hill Goods Cargo Carrier with 48 Inch Ramp # FHG77ZR. This carrier has a weight capacity of up 500 pounds and features a 48" inch ramp for easier loading and unloading. Having an open floor design helps prevent road debris and grime from building up in on the floor of the carrier. I have attached a review video of this carrier for you.

For tie down straps, I recommend the Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps with Push Button Releases # EM34415. These straps are 10 feet long and have a working load limit of 400 pounds. The excess strap is stored in the built-in housing when it is not being used to prevent the strap from tangling or flapping in the wind during travel. I have attached a review video of these straps for you.
