Will the Yakima MegaWarrior with Extension Fit a 2008 Toyota Sequoia with Factory Roof Rack

Question:

I have a Toyota 2008 5.7L 4WD. I want to buy the megaworrior togther wih the extension 1. Will the full basket fit my truck I mean basket with extension? 2. Can I leave the basket on my truck roof for at least 5 weeks without it rusting. I will be out of home and will be parking it in an area I do dont have garage or I have to remove it for storage the days I am not using? My concern here is rusting if left in rain. I have read horror stories or Curt baskets and prefer yours. 3. Should I plasti dip it or use rust oleum to prevent rust or your product is already treated.

The Yakima MegaWarrior cargo basket with extension, # Y07080-82, will attach to the factory crossbars on your 2008 Toyota Sequoia. The basket is with the extension is 74 inches long though so there is a possibility for interference with the rear hatch.

My recommendation is to use the regular MegaWarrior, # Y07080, and once mounted you will be able to determine if adding the 22 inch extension, # Y07082, would cause interference or not.

Yakima lists the factory roof rack capacity for your Sequoia at 150 pounds.

I also recommend using a tire step such as # ALL647596 because using a tire step is much safer than standing in an opening vehicle door way.

You can leave the basket on your roof for 5 weeks and it is not likely going to start rusting in that short amount of time. Prior to and after installation I recommend inspecting the metal components to see if there are any scratches from the shipping or installation processes. If there are a shot of black spray paint will inhibit any potential corrosion in those areas.

The basket is black powder coated, similar to what is used on trailer hitches and other similar steel parts so it does have protection against corrosion.
