Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2013 Ram 3500 with Integrated Controller

Question:

I have a 2013 Ram 3500 and wish to bypass factory brake controller, I have read all the comments on your site on how to go about this, my questions are: 1 do have have to get rid of warning light? 2 If you unplug factory controller to you still need to go to the dealer to get something reprogrammed? Thanks for your help,

To install an aftermarket brake controller in a 2013 Ram 3500 will require a trip to the dealer to get some warning lights turned off. For more info on that you will need to check out the help article I attached.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.

The install harness you would need is part # 3023-P.
