Prodigy P2 or Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller Recommendation
Question:
I have a 2002 Chev Tahoe Z71 tow package. What would you recommend as far as Trailer Brake Controler for pulling a 5-7K Cargo Trailer with Dual axle? The load in the trailer is fairly constant. I have been looking on your site and like the Tekonsha Voyager and the Prodigy P2. Is there a clear difference between the two, or would you recommend something else? Thanks!

The main differences between the Prodigy and Voyager brakes controllers are that the Prodigy P2 # 90885 can be used with either electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes, includes built in diagnostics, the ability to mounted in a wider range of positions, and uses a more modern way to sense proportional braking from the tow vehicle it is installed on. The P2 also offers three levels of boost to let you adjust initial braking power. Both units are proportional type controllers that can be used with trailers having up to 4 axles (8 brake assemblies total).
The actual weight of the towed trailer for either truck does not really make a difference in terms of which is a better choice of controller.
I would highly recommend the Prodigy P2 part # 90885. To install it all you would need is the correct install harness part # 3025-P.
