We offer lots of helpful resources to assist installation of a hitch like the Curt # C13182 and many of our customers do handle the process themselves. Basic hand tools are required, along with a torque wrench like # ALL944001, to ensure the included fasteners are tightened to the correct torque values. I have linked the written instructions (which list the tools required), a video showing installation in a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee and also a helpful article with great tips for an easier hitch installation.

For a 4-pole wiring harness (if you don't have the factory tow package) you can use # C56009 from Curt. This installs simply with plug-in connectors that connect at your taillights; you only have to drill one small hole to secure the white ground wire. If your Grand Cherokee has the tow package you can instead use wiring harness # C55384 which plugs in at the rear bumper to the round OEM connector. Install videos for both harnesses are linked for you too.

You might also consider the handy etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989900 since it includes two ball mounts with different amounts of rise and drop, two hitch balls (1-7/8-inch and 2-inch) as well as a pin and clip, all in a tote bag.
