Recommended Trailer Hitch And Bike Carrier For 2012 Chevrolet Cruze
Question:
I own a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze RS and am interested in a trailer hitch for a bike rack. You have three hitches listed for a Cruze. Will all be compatible with the lower body panels of the RS versus non RS models that are more prevalent? Thank you.

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2012 Cruze is the Draw-Tite Hitch, part # 24882.
This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. The installation for all three of these hitches is going to be similar and it has been verified to fit all models of the Cruze. I have attached a link to an installation of this hitch on a 2012 Cruze you can check out.
With a Class l hitch you are limited to carrying 2 bikes. The hitch-mounted bike carrier I recommend is the Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Rack, part # S63360. This bike rack will hold 2 bikes that weigh up to 35 lbs each and also features a tilting feature when empty for rear cargo access.
To secure the bike carrier to the hitch and also secure the bikes to the rack I recommend the Swagman Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable, part # S64031.
If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.
