Weight Distribution Shank Needed with 6-1/2 Inch Drop

Question:

I have done the measurement posted for getting the length needed. 22.5inch from ground to top of hitch on truck and 16inch to the hitch on trailer level so I come up with a 6.5 drop. Now my question is how big a drop do I need to obtain that 6.5 ? The ball unit sits about 5 1/2 above where you mount it on the shank so do I need a 12inch drop on the shank to get my 6 1/2 ?

Rise and drop is measured from the top of the receiver opening to the top of the ball platform. If you flip your shank so that it points down you should be able to get a little more drop out of a system when the head is bolted on in the lowest position.

If that is not enough then there are other shanks available with more drop. If you have a Pro Series system with round bars you can use shank # RP63971 which has a maximum drop of 6-1/2 inches. For Trunnion style bars you can use shank # C17123 which has a maximum 8-1/4 inch drop.
