On the 2001 GMC Yukon there is a brake controller wiring harness tucked up under the dash to the left of the steering wheel that you will connect to your brake controller's 4-wire harness. Only 4 wires will connect to the brake controller. You will use the RED/Black, WHITE, BLUE and BLUE/White wires.

These wires connect to the controller's pigtail harness as follows:

Vehicle WHITE connects to controller WHITE. This is ground.
Vehicle RED/Black connects to controller BLACK. This is 12V power for the controller.
Vehicle BLUE connects to controller BLUE. This is controller output to your 7-way.
Vehicle BLUE/White connects to controller RED.

This BLUE/White wire carries the brake light switch signal to tell the controller to activate the trailer brakes. This wire should carry a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed. If you have a tester like # 40376 you can verify you have the correct brake signal wire and that the RED/Black wire on the vehicle carries 12V power at all times.

The 5th wire on the Yukon is not required for the controller.
