Is it Possible for Exhaust on a Toyota Prius to Melt the Bumper After Installing a Trailer Hitch

Have any of your customers had any issues with exhaust heat melting the lower part of the bumper after installing part # 24847?

Expert Reply:
No, none of the customers who have reviewed trailer hitch # 24847 mentioned anything about problems with exhaust melting anything. After installation the exhaust should not be any closer to the vehicle than it was before the hitch was installed. If anything the exhaust would be slightly lower than stock meaning it would be about 1/4 inch further down. Also, the hitch would dissipate some of the heat so it would not be transferred to any part of the vehicle that could potentially melt.
