Can Truck Bed Stake Pocket Chrome Anchor Points # 92509 be Used on a 1978 Chevy El Camino
Question:
I recently bought a 78 El Camino, however, the bed has no tie down anchors. It does have a smooth chrome rail around the top, but no option to attach or fasten. Whatever I do, I will need to drill into the side wall or bed floor to install with no opportunity to work from the underside. Will the #92509 work? Other options you recommend? EC is only used for light loads, tarps, lawn mowers etc. Picture attached

The Truck Bed Stake Pocket Chrome Anchor Points 92509 mentioned are no longer available, but the Erickson # EM01006 anchors are nearly identical in form and function.
They could potentially work for you depending on where you install them. The metal used to make the bed of your 1978 Chevy El Camino is likely not all that thick so you would need to be careful about how much force is applied to those anchor points.
Out of the options we have these are the most likely to work. Tarps and push mowers would work fine. Heavier things like a riding mower would probably be too much stress.
