Solution for Bouncy Unloaded Trailer with 3 inch Axles

Question:

I have a utility trailer with a 3inch diam axle and single-leaf springs 26inch double eye. The trailer really bounces around unless I have a very heavy load in it. Can I replace the single-leaf springs with multi-leaf springs of a lesser capacity to improve the ride with light loads? From what I have read the 3inch axle equates to a 6000# capacity.

What you are experiencing is one of the drawbacks of having high capacity springs on a trailer (or even a vehicle). The strength of the springs causes the trailer to bounce quite a bit.

I have a great solution for you though. You would want the part # LC281281. This is a shock kit for trailers with 3 inch axles that will dampen the movement of the springs so that they won't bounce as much.
