Cross Bars that Run Side to Side for 2010 Ford Flex with Factory Side Rails that Run Front to Back

Question:

I have a Ford Flex 2010 with factory installed roof rails. I need to purchase the cross rails in order to use my Sears roof carrier. I noticed that it recommends the 58 inch rails - I measured the factory installed rails and they are 47 inches apart. Can I order the 50 inch 45050 or will the 58 inch only work on the Ford Flex? I would rather have less excess going across the factory installed rails. Thanks

The 58 inch bars are required because the included Crossroad adapters in the Thule Custom Fit Roof Rack 45058, have been discontinued. They extended out a little beyond the factory rails on your 2010 Ford Flex. They require that extra few inches in order to fit properly. The 50 inch bars would be too short for the width of your rails. As an alternative, I recommend the Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401, 53" WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711420, as well as locks # TH450400.

You will also need to make sure that your roof carrier is compatible with the Thule cross bars. The cross bars are 1-1/4 inches wide, so you will need to check the mounting hardware on your carrier to make sure it will fit this size bar.
