Recommended Hitch For Carrying Electric Bikes on Rear of 2015 Volvo V60

Question:

I have a 2015 Volvo V60 that I would like to get a hitch and the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 2-bike carrier for Electric Bikes with a 2inch hitch. Can you tell me what hitch will fit and will I need an extension for this bike rack?

Beginning with the hitch, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 75916. I'd recommend this hitch because it does not require a stabilizing strap, like the Curt hitch does.

To determine definitively if a bike rack and a given vehicle will be compatible, we need to know how far under the vehicle the receiver tube of the hitch will be recessed, as this distance varies from vehicle to vehicle. We haven't completed an installation of this hitch on a Volvo V60, so I can't say for certain. Using calculations taken from the hitch build sheets, my best guess is that this distance is approximately 6 inches.

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE for Electric Bikes, part # HLY84FR offers 7-1/2 inches of distance between its hitch pin hole and the closest part of the rack. This rack has a very high likelihood of fitting.

Thule offers their EasyFold XT, part # TH903202 that would offer a huge 14 inches of clearance. Since we've never seen a hitch recessed that far under a vehicle I'd be able to tell you with complete confidence that the EasyFold would fit, without needing an extender. The nicest feature of the EasyFold is its integrated bike loading ramp. You can wheel the bike into place, without needing to lift it. The rack can handle 2 bikes weighing up to 66 lbs apiece.
