Can Trailer Wiring Harness Be Grounded To Gas Tank Strap

Is it ok to ground the trailer hitch wire to the gas tank strap?

Attaching any wires to the gas tank or metal attached to the gas tank is not a good idea. When installing trailer wiring a good ground location would be the vehicle frame or sheet metal that is not painted.
