Flat towing a vehicle behind a motorhome requires 5 basic components: a tow bar, safety cables, and a lighting solution, base plates and supplementary braking system for the toad. I recommend staying with one brand of base plate and tow bar since doing so avoids the added cost and complexity of the adapters that are needed to match up parts from different manufacturers.

Let's start with base plates for your Equinox. I recommend Blue Ox base plates # BX1689 since they work on models with or without the Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Air Shutters, or brush guard features. For your tow bar I suggest the Blue Ox Alpha # BX7380 for its self-aligning design and included safety cables, which saves you that one expense.
