Moving Cargo Carrier Out of Path of Exhaust on a 2015 Volvo XC60
Question:
I have 2015.5 Volvo XC60 with Curt trailer hitch installed. I purchased this cargo carrier C18152 because it has raised shaft. Although it is raised, exhausts are pointing directly to the carrier. Also, the hitch is positioned under the bumper and about 2inch in, the distance between exhausts and carrier is even closer. Is there any product/solution that I can install on the carrier so that heat doesnt damage items?

One possible solution is to use a hitch extender such as # C45795 to move the carrier further away from the path of the exhaust. You want the carrier to be at least 12 inches out from the path of the exhaust.
The only problem with this is that the use of an extender reduces the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. So, for Curt hitch # 13268 for the 2015 Volvo XC60 the tongue weight capacity would be reduced from 400 pounds down to 200 pounds, minus the weight of the cargo carrier.
